As pointed out by an unhappy TV stand buyer, the available stands, set all the components pretty much on the floor. And all were glass and steel look or melamine, which doesn't last.
We didn't want to fill the room with the new furniture, rather we wanted it to blend with the predominantly wood theme we have going.
Having some very striking spalted maple left from a previous job and a slab of sugar maple,
Ken decided to make his own TV stand.
So he gathered enough to make 2 large slabs and jointed it all togeather and made a new backboard and a box that fit under the sugar maple slab.
However after getting all the components into the cabinet,
we found the whole tangle of wires wasn't visually appealing so he made one more piece to fit into the box and cover the wires.

They are very attractive on there own and need something equally eye appealing for the top. Ken started experimenting with different things and came upon 3 tiles of black marble. His plan is to build a maple frame with 3" wide rails to fit between the tiles to create a framework around them, to support them.
, and that creates the top.
We'll just have to wait and see .What ever he does, it will be a very classy and organic piece of furniture to appeal to a modern market.
And I will post it as soon as it's done!
